I've taken my first couple of steps.
1) I contacted an agency: ESL PLANET (http://www.esl-planet.com/), created an account and uploaded my picture, passport, resume and cover letter.
2) I enrolled in a TEFL course (http://www.teflonline.net/) - This gives me more of a qualification, especially if I want to teach in Seoul.
3) A recruiter (Rowan), then contacted me and asked me where I would like to teach. I said Seoul and Gyeonggi.
4) We set up a Skype interview. My interview was for Saturday, 8:30 AM KST. I was super excited and kept in mind the +13 hour time difference. I went downtown to Toronto and stayed over at a friend's, Friday night.
STUPID! STUPID! STUPID!
How did I not realize that our Friday meant it was a Saturday for them? I don't know.
I came home Saturday evening and realized I had made a huge mistake. I thought that our days were still the same, and that there was only the time difference. I missed our interview and I instantly went into panic mode. I emailed Rowan apologizing and feeling extremely guilty. He was really nice and scheduled me in that night.
During our Skype interview, he asked me about myself. And very realistically, told me about what South Korea was going to be like and what to expect. He told me that he's going to try to place me in Seoul (!) Our conversation lasted 20 minutes.
Now, I have a bunch of documents to take care of before anything else can happen:
A) I need to get two different reference letters from two different companies. I need to get the original, ink copy signature and a photocopied version.
B) Fill out the application form.
I'll keep y'all updated!
